I love how at the end of The Great Dime Chase they made it seem like Gyro was on his way to becoming a villain when he was actually coming up with this show's version of Iron Man

I generally support Lin-Manuel Miranda in all his various efforts. Not because of Hamilton and Encanto (though i really did enjoy both of those), but because -- most importantly of all -- he is a fan of Weird Al Yankovic.

So Launchpad's obsession with the Darkwing Duck TV show is -- I think -- the thing that really makes him click as a character to me. Having been a fan of Darkwing Duck and Batman The Animated Series, I can't help but support and relate to that level of fannishness. 😁

I gotta tell you. The reason Mark Beaks is hyper-fixated on Gizmoduck is that he noticed a similar style of machinery to his former mentor. And he noticed this because Beaks & Gearloose both learned under the same mentor. But while Beaks was quickly dismissed for lack of dedication, Gearloose came to surpass their mentor.

Guys remember when it was revealed that Magica was the actual mother of the triplets? 😆

GIZMODUCK!!! One of my all-time favorite characters in the original Ducktales cartoon has returned - and in the same episode we get to see Darkwing Duck! Can this episode get anymore awesome?! Wait - they also did the "hero vs robot race" from Talespin?! Okay, this series peaked - it has to be downhill from here. Right?

On Launchpad's driver's license, his birth date is actually the date of the original Ducktales 5-part episode airing (Sep 18, 1987)....and that also turned out to be his world debut as he had never appeared in the comics before, unlike the rest of the cast. He was an original creation for TV to largely replace Donald Duck since Donald was hardly on the original Ducktales.

Fenton is voiced by the guy who wrote the music for Encanto.

Just a suggestion: Launchpad should get his own series...or at least show up as the sidekick in a spin-off. Just saying. :)

Beyond Arcane, I can see a bunch of self contained 2 season or more arcs focusing on different countries within Runeterra as Piltover and Zaun are only a part of one region. The heavy Presence Noxus has in Arcane makes me think maybe an arc set in Ionia could happen as that nation and Noxus have hefty history, plus Ionia has some cool champions that could shine in various ways. I feel Noxus on the warpath is what gets Caitlyn going to set up a small team to go remove the aggressors in Zaun, her team against the clock before war chaos breaks out. Only my theorizing though. Excited for November to see what happens!

With Darkwing Duck being a tv show in this show's continuity, the in-universe actor for Darkwing, Jim Starling, is appropriately named after the character's real life voice actor, Jim Cummings, who of course reprises his role here.

The joke that the robot driver engages "Ludicrous Mode" in the car is a great nod to Tesla and ultimately Spaceballs.

I loved both the original Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck as a kid and this show made me so happy referencing Darkwing.

As someone who grew up with the original Ducktales, hearing "Blathering Blatherskite" made me feel like a kid again. The new series did so well with Gizmoduck!

Yeah, this ones real, not a big spoiler but, this Ducktales likes to reference or cross-over in ways with other old 90's Disney block shows. So far you've seen i believe references to Tail Spin (first episode mentioned Cape Suzette which is where that show takes place), and now Darkwing Duck, which was its own show and had quiestionable continuity with Duck Tales as some characters like Launchpad and Gizmo Duck were in both shows, yet I don't think Darkwing Duck ever showed up on Duck Tales back then that I can remember. So here he's an old Adam West Batman type show. The original Darkwing Duck was basically a combination of Batman and The Shadow, same with the villains being mostly combos, like one was Toyman+Joker, and the electric guy is Electro+Poison Ivy (in that he related to the bulbs and other devices and treated them like they were alive...but he was crazy, like he'd break a store window and toss toasters on the ground and announce they are free to roam the wild now. Weirdly enough there was another plant based villain but he was closer (at the time) to the Floronic Man mixed with Swamp Thing *Poison Ivy from the early 90s wasn't green and used botany gene manipulation not florakinesis).

I'm absolutely waiting for you to react to the episode where Fenton gets the upper hand in a war by stealing the enemy sides cannons, which causes the president to elect him to be his new political strategist. I also can't wait for the episode where we met Scrooge's ex-girlfriend who manages to solo Webby and Beakly in order to lure Scrooge into a trap set up by Glomgold because Glomgolds trying to find fossils to show off at his museum. I'm especially excited to see your reaction to the episode where Lena messes with Scrooges dime, forcing him to keep it safe in a dream dimension, where Lena must face her inner demons in the form of evil unicorns and a deadbeat bigfoot creature to see if getting the dime is worth betraying a Webby doll.

Fenton Crackshell Cabrera, voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda, may be why the voice was tickling something in your head. In the original show he wasn’t a scientist, but a bean counter. A literal bean counter, he’d count beans as they were dropped into a jar.

There are no standalone episodes of Ducktales. Every episode in the 3 seasons contains a callback or a setup.

Fenton Crackshell aka Gizmoduck was a major fan favorite in the OG series. He was initially conceived as a parody of Robocop, which was just come out at the time, but everybody loved him so much that the show runners kept him all the way through the latter half of the series, letting him go on adventures with Scrooge and giving him solo episodes. They changed him up a bit in the 2017 version. Made him Hispanic American, added Cabrera to his name and made him an intern instead of accountant, but at heart he’s the same. A bumbling but well meaning duck who loves his mother and just wants to help people.

I might be an American, but I know enough to get the panto reference in the reaction title. 😏

Darkwing and Gizmoduck are rival superheroes like Batman & Superman(at least to their fans), but they're both founding members of the Justice Ducks team which hasn't been seen in new Ducktales even though the team finally got their own comic book series recently!

It's always funny seeing how a generation will complain about the previous generation being annoying and then that generation will be annoying about the new one in the same way

The original Ducktales and Darkwing had a full set of heroes, complete with a big justice league style team up.
